Blessed Again!

Good morning everyone!  I hope this finds you all well.

I'm a Grandma again..........I have a beautiful new Granddaughter!  Ava Mae Soulsby was born last Tuesday, 11/12/13 at 7:03 am.  She weighted 7lbs. 7.5 oz and was 21" long.  Mama and baby are doing fine and came home on Thursday.

I've been at Mindy's since Thursday helping with Ava and Zoey and will stay through Tuesday and then I have to back to work.

So, I'd like you all to meet our new baby's Ava!

What a little peanut she is.........she looks just Zoey did when she was born! Zoey is quite taken with her and makes sure everyone knows who comes to visit, that "that's my baby sister." It's just so darn cute!!

There will be more pictures to come.......but for now, I have to get ready to go back out to Mindy's.  I just wanted to share my news!

Enjoy what is left of the weekend........

From wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.

An Update & a Little Witch

Morning everyone! I hope you are all staying's in the 40s here in Ohio and a pretty dreary day.

Just a quick post to let you know that I "finally" have all of my patterns up on my Esty shop at 1/2 price for any of you who are interested! If you buy 3 or more patterns, you get 1 pattern of your choice free, so don't forget to let me know in the comment section
in the cart, which pattern you would like!

I'm working on some finished goods for Christmas and on a couple of things for my Christmas Giveaway that I'll post around the 15th of November.  So be sure and check back!

I also wanted to share this really good recipe that I found in one of the Taste of Home's to die for and takes no time to put together!

BBQ Meat Loaf Minis

1 6oz package of stuffing mix (I used Chicken flavor)
1 1/2 lbs of ground beef
4 Tbsp of your favorite BBQ Sauce (I used KC Masterpiece Original)
1 cup of water
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese

Combine the first 4 ingrediants and mix together well.  Place a 1/2 cup of the ground meat mixture into each of 12 ungreased muffin cups.  Bake at 375 for 18-22 minutes. Sprinkle the tops with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese; bake 2-3 minutes longer or until the cheese is melted.  Serve with additional BBQ sauce and a serving of coleslaw and enjoy!!!  This is soooooooo good!

Before I go I wanted to share a couple of pics of my "little witch!"  Zoey is all dressed up for Halloween and went to trick or treat on Thursday!  We had so much fun with her!

We are anxiously awaiting our new baby.........Mindy will never make it to November 12th, so we are hoping for a "Halloween" baby!  LOL!  I'll send you an update when baby arrives!

That's it for now!  I wish all of you a Happy Halloween.............

From wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.....

Many Thanks.....and 2 winners

Evening everyone,

I hope you have all had a good day.  I spent a wonderful afternoon with my very pregnant daughter, Mindy.  No way is she going to go until November 12th. I'm hoping for a Halloween baby and we just might have one!! LOL!

We picked up the rest of what we needed for Zoey's Halloween costume......she's going to be a Witch and a very sparkly one!   She loves all the makeup and hairspray and getting her nails painted....and she's only 2 1/2!  This may not be a good sign!!! LOL!
There will be pictures, so stay tuned.

I'd like to thank everyone who left me a comment about my recent decision to stop designing patterns.........I appreciate your kind words and support more than you know.  I am enjoying being able to stitch for myself, now that I have a little more time.......and I'm actually getting caught up on a few things and it feels good to be ahead for a change!!

And now...........the winners of my Halloween giveaways!  Congratulations to Lori from Apple Grove Treasures and Nancy M.  Please send me an email with your mailing address
so I can get your Halloween goodies out to you right away!

Thank you again to everyone who responded to my giveaway!  I'm planning another one in November, so be sure and check back next month!

Until then, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.....and from wherever you may dwell, I with you peace and wish you well.

October Morning

Good morning my friends,

It is a perfect October morning here in Ohio.  I've been up since 6:00 and I've got the windows and doors open and the quiet this morning is heaven.  Except for the chatter of the birds at my feeders reminding me that they need filled, it's perfect. It's a little overcast and it feels like it might rain, which figures since I really need to mow the grass today!  LOL!

I'm sitting here with my 2nd cup of coffee thinking about my sister Robin who passed away 2 years ago Friday.  Missing her and remembering............wondering how she could possibly be gone this long.  So much has changed in our lives and it always feels now like there is a piece missing ....... but she is never far from my thoughts and always in my heart.  I love you sister.......

Over the past few weeks, some things have changed for me and I've made some decisions about Falling Star.  I've decided to stop designing patterns.  This was a hard decision for me, but one that I felt I needed to make.  I love designing, but it's very time consuming and there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day anymore and I've fallen behind on so much.  With a new baby coming in November and the holiday's just around the corner, something had to give.  Retirement for me is probably still a couple of years away and maybe after I can retire I'll get back into it again when I have more time.

For now, I'll be selling my original designs on my Etsy shop as finished goods.  I'm working on some things now that I hope to have posted in a week or so.  And starting later this evening you can find my Halloween & Christmas patterns on Etsy for 1/2 off, for as long as my inventory lasts.  I'll have all my other patterns on Etsy as well, a little at a time.  If you buy 3 patterns or more, I'll throw in a pattern of your choice, free!

So in the midst of all of this I decided to have a couple of giveaways, to celebrate Halloween!!  These are "surprise" giveaways and I'm only going to show you sneak peeks
of each.

Just leave a comment on this post and I'll draw the 2 winning names this coming Friday!  Good luck!

In closing, I have a few of my Halloween decorations to share.  I only have a few things out so the rate I'm going, Halloween will be over before I get it all done! LOL!

As always, from wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.

Happy Labor Day everyone!  I hope this finds you all well and enjoying what is left of the long weekend!

Sorry I've been gone so long...........I've been out looking for July.  Can't find it's gone.  And now August is probably went the same place July went! LOL!

I just can't believe that it's September.  Some of the leaves are changing's scary!

And speaking of 1st Halloween pattern for this year is up on my website for your consideration. "A Witch's Spell" turned out better than I expected.  I'm really anxious to hear your response and to find out if you saw her at first glance.........

I have also put up my 1st Christmas design for this year called "Sadie's Christmas."  A very primitive little sampler that is fun to stitch.  The pine trees are my favorite part!
Even though it "killed" me to put out a Christmas pattern before Halloween is even here........I am actually ahead of the game for once!!! LOL!

I've spent the last 2 months, working on new patterns and getting ready for The Spirit of Friends Primitive Show on the 28th at Malabar Farms in Lucas, Ohio. I haven't done this show in 2 years and I forgot how much work it takes to get ready!  I'm thinking I'm too old for this anymore!! Ha! Ha!

The summer has gone by so flower beds are already going to seed and my poor garden did not fair well at all this year. Pumpkins and corn stalks will start popping up in the neighborhood any day now and I've already got the itch to get my Halloween stuff out.

Zoey thoroughly enjoyed her summer and it was impossible trying to keep her "out of the water."

I'm pretty sure her middle name is "fish!"

Well, that's about all I have for now.  My son Anthony is making sauce, so I'm headed for the kitchen!  TTYL!

From wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well........

A Little Americana & Progress

Good morning everyone!  It is a beautiful morning in Ohio.  The sun is out, there is a slight breeze and the humidity hasn't hit yet. I threw all the windows open this morning to air out the house.........wonderful!

I have lots to share today and will warn you, this is picture heavy!

2 new patterns hot off the press to commerate our love of Country.  Lucy Blackwell, My America is a delightful sampler that I've made into a pillow and I've added some silver stars for a little "bling."

I've stitched Lucy Blackwell on Prairie cloth with Valdani pearl cottons.  The finished size is 10" x 6".  I've also included in the pattern the stitch count, etc. to do the sampler on 28 count linen, if you don't want to do it on the Prairie cloth.

The Red, White & Blue is a tribute to our American Flag and is a double pattern that includes a very Patriotic sampler and a sweet pillow tuck.
The design for both the sampler and pillow tuck are centered around a couple of 4" x 6" vintage flags that I was fortunate enough to find at a flea market.  "A New Nation" sampler is a 7" x 10" sampler with words from the Gettysburg Address.  "Blessed are We" is a sweet pillow tuck done on 28 count linen with a finished size of 10 1/2" x 4". The verse reads: Blessed are we in the land of the free....America is our Nation.

Both patterns are up on my website under the "Summer" category!

In between working on my patterns, I've been trying to "take back" my flower beds from the's really been an uphill battle, but I'm seeing the end in sight!  Thanks to my sister Kim, I have 3 of my 5 beds finished and wanted to share the results.

Last year I started a new bed in my side yard in an effort to get rid of more grass (I hate to mow)! LOL!  Anyway, here it is from beginning to end.  This is where it all started!
My son-in-law Danny and my neighbor Mark spent a good portion of their day helping out the "old lady."
And this was the end result by the end of the weekend........pretty pathetic, I'd say!
Now I owe a huge "thanks" to my sister Kim, who I could not have accomplished this without... this is what it looked like as of last weekend..........
Needless to say, I'm thrilled.
Next year I'll put in another bed next to the vegetable garden that will all herbs!

Kim was back at my house yesterday to help me with 2 more beds.........this is how they looked before we started........

And 4 hours later....ta da!!!

Ain't it grand!!!  Thank you my sister! Could never have done it without you!  Only 2 beds left..........

In closing, Zoey spent the night at Gramma's last weekend and of course, wore me out!
She is such a little character and a "ham" for the camera! LOL!
Now I need to re-group and start working on a "garden" sampler that I've had in my head for awhile now.......but I have to clean my house first.....yuk!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and......from wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.

Good evening my friends,

Just a quick post to let you know what's going on......I've been busy with flower beds, the garden, spring cleaning and new designs...and I can't tell if I've put a dent in it or not!

I did manage to get a new pattern done!  Croft Manor 1826 is up on my website........I love the way this one turned out.

The sampler is done in soft shades of creams, taupes & browns and it turned out exactly as I had it in my head....for once!  LOL!

I just finished the chart for a new 4th of July design that I'm anxious to get stitching on.  I'll pull the materials for it after work tomorrow and get'll be here before we know it!

If the weather cooperates this weekend, Zoey and I will start our Butterfly Garden.  We're going to plant a "waystation" for the Monarch Butterflies......their population is down because their food supply is dwindling.  It will take a couple of years for our "waystation" to mature, but I went crazy at our local nursery last weekend and bought enough of what butterflies like to make them sit up and take notice.
I'm hoping that Zoey will enjoy digging in the dirt as much as Gramma does!  There will be start-to-finish pictures of our stay tuned.

That's all I have for now.........I have to get up and go to work tomorrow, so I should probably get some sleep......

So from wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.

Something new!

Evening everyone!  I hope you've had an enjoyable weekend.

I think Spring has finally hit Ohio!  We have had 2 glorious days of sunshine and blue skies and today, although it was pretty windy, was in the 60's.  It's amazing what a little sunshine can do to improve how you feel.  I had the windows open this afternoon and Callie, Willow & Lilee didn't know which window sill to go to first! LOL!

My 1st "smalls" pattern is done and I'm pretty excited about how it turned out.  A celebration of friendship comes to you in "Friendship" Smalls.

These 3 sweet little designs can be stitched up quickly and turned into pillow tucks, mini samplers, cupboard door hangers and the list goes on! I've included an alphabet so each design can be personalized. Friendship Smalls are up on my website and ready to ship.  Let me know what you think!

I have a new sampler in the works......the graph for Brown House Sampler is almost finished and I really can't wait to start stitching this one.  I'll post a sneak peek sometime this week.

I have a couple of pics to share of Zoey from Easter last weekend.  She is talking up a storm and I can actually make out most of what she is saying!!  LOL!  Here she is in her Easter bonnet (aka straw hat for working in the garden)!!

It came complete with a watering can and gardening tools for her to use to help Daddy in the garden this year.  We are also starting a Monarch Butterfly Waystation so we will be doing a lot of digging in the dirt.

I would love to know what she's thinking about in this picture!  She never lets grandma get too far away.
And this was the picture of the day.....she's watching grandma's birds.  Her Daddy always gets the most amazing pictures of her when she least expects it.

Our new baby is due on November 12, 2013!  That will make his/her birthday 11-12-13....I think that's so cool!

Well, that's all I have for now.  I've been at it all day and it's time for pj's!  Back to work tomorrow....yuk!

So, from wherever you make dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.

Happy Easter, a new pattern and wonderful news!

Happy Easter everyone!  I hope you've had a wonderful day.

Brunch with my family and an Easter Egg hunt with Zoey made my day perfect.  How I love that little girl.  And my wonderful news is that Zoey has a new baby brother or sister on the way!  Yep!  I'm going to be a grandma again......probably late November, early December. I can't wait!

My son just updated my website with my newest pattern called Schoolgirl Stitches.  This is a 4-in-one pattern of 4 very sweet marking samplers made by 4 very charming little girls who attended the Sugargrove School in Warren County, Ohio in 1837.

It is true that Sissy, Becca, Lottie and Mercy are figments of my imagination, but they have definitely taken on a life of their own.  There is a little story for each one and their marking samplers truly reflect their personalities.  These sweet designs are all stitched on 32 count linen and they all fit in a 5 X 7 frame.......doesn't get any easier than that!

The Sugargrove School, however, is a real place that existed in a much simpler time.

I'm in the process of adding my first group of Finished Goods to my Etsy store and should have them posted within the hour.   The 1st of my "smalls" that I talked about in my last post, are called "Friendship Smalls" and are almost finished.  I'll send a sneak peek sometime next week!

That's about all I have for now.  Enjoy the rest of this beautiful day and remember...
from wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.

Yes, I'm finally back!!

Hey everyone!  I hope you are all well and keeping warm.  It's a cold, dreary day in Ohio....the perfect day to stay inside and stitch.

A couple of months ago, when my son mentioned that he wanted to re-vamp my website, I thought he was going to add something here and take that out and move something over there......NOT!  I didn't realize at the time that he was going to rebuild it from the ground up!   That's why I've been gone so long!

I also mentioned in my last post that I wasn't going to be blogging anymore.........well, that has changed and I'll be using my blog from now on as my Home page for the website and I promise that you won't have to "pack a lunch" to read my posts anymore........I'm going to keep everything short and sweet!

So here it is in a nutshell!  My new website is up and running and looks very different.  I love what my son has done with it!  I have a new pattern to share under "Everyday" called With My Needle.  The pattern is ready to ship for those of you who are interested.

I've updated my Event's page.  I will be vending at 2 wonderful primitive shows this year, so check it out.

I'm in the process of working on my Etsy shop for Finished Goods, Flea Market Finds & Needfulls.

Also, coming soon are Falling Star "Smalls."  "Smalls" are sweet little patterns that can be stitched up in very little time and will come to you in their own unique little package.  These little designs can be made into pillow tucks, bowl fillers, door hangers, mini samplers.......the possibilities are endless.  Each package will come with a graph for each design, a materials list and a photo....the rest is up to you!  Smalls will only be available through my website and will retail for $6.00!

Thank you all for your patience.  I am so glad to be back!

Before I go, I have to share a picture of my sweet little granddaughter Zoey, who turned 2 on February 13th.  I don't know where the time has gone.  She is talking up a storm and crazy as ever.....and the sweetest thing is she doesn't call me grandma...........she calls me "monkey!"  It's hysterical........

From wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.

P.S. Forgot to mention my pattern sale!  25% off on selected patterns for Everyday & Halloween!
