A quite morning.....

Morning everyone,

I hope this finds you well and enjoying the end of the weekend.  It is a beautiful morning here in Ohio.  It might be 68.........the windows are open, the birds are singing and the neighborhood is quiet. Life is good!

I've had several people ask to see pictures of my home, so this morning I went around and took some shots.  My living room is still a work in progress.  My TV cabinet is new and my slip covers are new and I haven't gotten around to making the new curtains and pillow covers.  There just aren't enough hours in the day!!

So, here are a couple of shots of my living room!

I couldn't keep Lilee out of the picture!  LOL!

My early 1800's shipping trunk is one of my favorite pieces. It looks pretty good for being a couple of hundred years old!
My horse weather vane is another of my very favorite pieces.
Here is a kitchen shot!  My kitchen is so small that I couldn't get
a full picture unless I'd gone out on the deck and shot the picture
through the window!!  LOL!

My bedroom is in the middle of a re-do, so I'll show pics later when it's finished!

Yesterday, I picked up a couple of treasures from a barn sale that was given by my son-in-law Danny's parents. I bought this wonderful old cabinet that I'm going to refinish for a night stand next to my bed... $20! Looks pretty rough now but when I get it done I'll do a before and after pic!

Then I bought this wonderful magazine stand...$20!  I have no idea where I'm going to put it, but I just had to have it!
I also bought a beautiful oak mantle that has an old mirror under it, but it's in the basement and I couldn't get a good picture of it...............so I'll share that later!

And last, I bought this wonderful cabinet top from a friend of mine in southern Ohio a couple of weeks ago that I absolutely love.
The picture really doesn't do it justice and I still have to decide if I'm going to leave the door as is and stack some quilts inside or if I'm going to put something over the opening like wire mesh or a tin punched panel...........just can't decide!  I'm thinking, I'm liking the quilt idea because it will add some color.........

So, that's about all I have for now.  We got several days of much needed rain and now I have to mow the grass and weed the garden.......I don't think I've mowed in 3 weeks! LOL!  It's amazing how quickly the weeks pop up with just a little rain.

In the meantime.........from wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.

ANNA B & NIANA

A good evening to you my friends!

Just a quick note to let you know that my new pattern ANNA B & NIANA is done!  This is the double pattern that I've been telling you about and gave you a sneak peek of last weekend.

I met Anna B. Warrick and Niana Story in a couple of old books.   The had both written things inside each book that made me laugh and it inspired me to dedicate a sampler to each of them.

The book belonging to Anna B had her signature in it several times on the back but unfortunately no date or any clue as to where she was from.  Above her signature in the back of the book, she wrote
"if my name you want to see, turn to page 103."  So, I turned to page 103 and written across the top of the page she wrote "you are a fool for looking."  LOL! I thought that was pretty funny.

Anna B

Niana Story came from a little book called The Little Medicine Carrier.  This sweet little book was gifted to Niana by Wilmet Ballentine on the 5th of April, 1907.  They lived in Rumsey, Ky.

In the front of the book Niana wrote "don't steal this book for fear of shame for it in you will find the owners name. And on that judgement day the Lord will say, where is that book you stole away and if you say you do not know, he will say step down below."   What a sense of humor!!

Niana Story

Details for both samplers are on my website.  Both samplers stitch up quickly and are done in muted blues and browns.  I really enjoyed stitching both of them.

I will be concentrating on my Halloween booklet now, I still have a lot to do before I turn everything over to my daughter, Mindy.  She will be doing the layout, editing, etc. getting it ready to send off the printer.  So I'll keep you posted on my progress.  I think you're going to enjoy "The Haunting Season."

From wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well...........

Summer flowers & Halloween

Happy Sunday to everyone!  I hope this finds you well and enjoying the end of the weekend.
Warning! Warning!  This is a long post and picture heavy!!

I thought I'd share a couple of before & after pics of some of my summer flowers.  A lot of them are going to seed already, but the rest are doing well despite the heat and no rain.

This is a pic at the beginning of the summer of my side and front bed.

And this is how it looks now!  My cone flowers are doing really well and have doubled since last year.

This was my wheelbarrow out front at the beginning of summer!

And this is what it looks like now!
I love planting baskets, but the squirrel's keep using them as hiding spots and I have to add more soil about once a week!  Before!

and after!

Forgot to take a "before" of this one, but it's growing like crazy now!
Rosemary, Thai Basil & and Chocolate mint
There is lots more of it now!!

I cut in a new perennial bed this year on the side of my garage, but unfortunately it isn't doing very well and looks pretty bad, so I'll show you that bed next summer when it's doing better!! LOL!

So, on to Halloween.... A Spooky Bellpull is done and the patterns are ready to go out the door. Details are on my website.
This whimsical Bell Pull is a Halloween alphabet that includes all of the things that haunt us on Halloween.  A witch, her hat and her trusty broom, a black cat and a big full moon.  A crow, a pumpkin and a skeleton key and a sweet little mouse sitting on the "Z".  Oh geez.......that rhymed, didn't it (pretty bad)!!  HA! HA!

My mission today was to clean (didn't get done) go to the grocery store (did that, the cupboard was bare) and stain and frame Anna B & Niana (yet to do).  I'm having central air installed on Thursday!  Just can't take the heat anymore. So by the weekend, my sewing room upstairs will be nice and cool!  I'm pretty excited!  Now I can't use the heat as an excuse not to go up there.  LOL!

Stay cool and remember.........

From wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace and wish you well.

STILL HERE!

Hi everyone!  I hope this finds you well and I hope everyone had a safe & happy 4th of July!

I apologize for being gone so long.  I've been feeling very disconnected from everything lately. They have finally set another trial date for the man who took my sister Robin's life, last October.  It is now scheduled for October 2nd and we have been told that this will be it.  There isn't anything else that can postpone it again.......we'll see.  They told us it would take a year and it looks like they weren't kidding.......so we wait.

In the meantime, I am trying to focus on some new patterns and my 1st Halloween Booklet.  So I think some "sneak peeks" are in order!!

ANNA B & NIANA (like Diana with an "N") is a double pattern with 2 sweet samplers that I'm dedicating to 2 young ladies with a very whimsical sense of humor.   I can't give their story away just yet, but I met both of them in a couple of old books.  I think you will enjoy their writings as much as I have!  Both samplers stitch up quick, fit nicely into 8 x 10 frames and are done in soft blues and muted browns.

 NIANA STORY

My Halloween Booklet is coming along nicely.  This is one of those things that you think "how hard can this be" and then you're thinking "whose idea was this anyway"!! LOL!  But I'm determined to put it all together and I know it'll be worth the effort.  So here are a few sneak peeks of "The Haunting Season."

My 1st Halloween pattern for this year is called "A Spooky Bellpull" and I decided if we can have Christmas in July we can surely have "Halloween" in July.  This Halloween alphabet is finished into a delightful bellpull complete with a rusty key at the bottom and a knarly old twig as a hanger.  This pattern will be ready to ship in about a week.  I'll post a complete picture & details when it's ready!!

And of course, my blog isn't complete without a few pics of Zoey.  She will be 17 mos. old on the 13th and she is one crazy kid!! I wish there was some way to bottle her energy!  She loves watermelon, her sandbox, anything connected with water, sliding boards and her swing (the higher the better).  What a little character she is!

Here is mama & Zoey at the zoo!

I call this one "little miss attitude" (she is fasinated with her shadow).

My angel!!

Well, I think that about covers it for now.  It is actually cool out this morning so I'm going to take my second cup of coffee out on the deck and enjoy it while it lasts.

So, from wherever you may dwell, I wish you peace & wish you well.
